Company ProfileWe are a tax exempt, nonprofit charitable organization. Effectivedate of exemption, July 24, 2003. Through the efforts of our family, friends and supporters of Suicide Prevention Programs we are reaching out by sharing our stories of the loss of our son, brother, nephew, uncle, grandson, friend..., Kaniela Kaninau, 18 years of age, who passed away on April 5, 2003. The death of Kani was a shock to all of us. We continue to deal with this... Out of this darkness... our company was born.
Hawai'i SPEAR has been joined by Diane Heyerdahl, mother of Mikey Heyerdahl died by suicide at the age of 12, January 13, 2002. Like myself Diane is a survivor of suicide. Each day survivors like ourselves struggle, just to make it through the day. Suicide is a national and statewide health issue that has become our life's mission. We were propelled into this community no one wants membership to. We are turning our pain into productive work by "BREAKING THE SILENCE...now and forever! Help us to remove the stigma! Please help us in SUPPORT of this cause. Make a donation today!
